Germinal

If ever you need six copies of Eat, Pray, Love, and don't want to pay ~$120 for them, look no further than Value Village. It's their most popular novel, which surely means it's the one people loved the most. People loved it so much, they wanted to pass the burden joy onto someone else!

If you're really feeling like splurging, you could also buy up all seventeen copies of 2002's masterpiece drama, Spiderman. Or even the nine copies of its 2004 sequel!

Songs for Spring

Welcome back, warm weather! I'm so chuffed about the springtime; it's been sunny and 25 degrees here, and I am ready and waiting to break out my sandals and sundresses. Unfortunately, spring brings some pretty bad flooding around here, which means that getting to class has turned into a small adventure. Here's my usual path to campus:

Just your usual walk/swim to class.

In other news, good weather means more walking around, so I've been listening to a mix of very upbeat, spring-timey songs, and I thought I'd share a few.

HIGHS - Summer Dress
HIGHS are a great new Canadian band who just came out with their first self-titled LP. Looking forward to hearing more good music from them in the future.

Janelle Monáe - Dance Apocalyptic
I've been ever so slightly obsessed with Janelle Monáe for the past year - she's brilliantly talented, and unafraid to speak her mind. Her rap at the end of Q.U.E.E.N. is one of my favourites, but Dance Apocalyptic is the song that I just can't get out of my head.

Chlöe Howl - Paper Heart
Chlöe Howl is a new artist from the UK who will be releasing her first album later this year. Paper Heart is the second single she's released, and it's pretty darn catchy.

Happy spring, and good luck on finals! :)

Happy Singles' Awareness Day

I could write a cute little intro to joke about my perpetual singledom on this day of love, but I'm too tired/bored/boring/over it, and I'm just killing time on a redeye Greyhound. Here's some anti-Valentine's day anthems.

Kacey Musgraves - Merry Go 'Round
99 times of 100 I don't like contemporary country. This is one of those gems I can't get enough of.

Death Cab For Cutie - Your New Twin Sized Bed

John Newman - Cheating

Feeling like something more lovey-dovey? Here's a couple alternatives.

Tegan and Sara - Don't Find Another Love
This came out last week. It's kinda cute. Whatever.

NONONO - Pumpin' Blood
This has been on repeat for the past half hour. I'm in love - it's too damn catchy.

Happy Valentine's Day, and good luck on any remaining midterms/assignments! :)
